Open Sketch 27 Mar
Today had an interesting session at the open sketch. We had model Danlin for the day, who had beautiful body poses. I tried seeing her gesture and translate into animal characters that exist in my memory. This is really good exercise, especially for character animation.
^This is much influenced by croods
^Then I tried to play with leopard, thinking of Tailung from Kunfu Panda
^This is greatly influenced by Kungfu Panda, Po!
^Mixture of Po and the Hippo from fantasia
^For the top left drawing, I was thinking of Tarzan
^She was lying down, but i gave her long limbs and squeezed her into the format of my sketchbook
^You can see the original pose from the previous drawing, I then translate them into favourite animals.

Designing composition
This is outdated stuffs. I planned this for a module last semester to be translated to traditional medium which turns up to be out of topic. Therefore I brush it up digitally recently.
Animatic for Adv 2D (Work in progress)
Here's something that I did for Adv 2D class so far. I hope to achieve emotional acting for my character animation.

Layout Continue
And so I try to continue with more layout each day, hoping that they stitch together to form a single world.
Vivien helped me to clean up the lines digitally, and I finish it off with colours.

Layout
I just spend the last few hours figuring out my layout and color for a key moment of my film.
For me, it took me quite awhile, because I was trying to combine a color scheme from the Feature film: Ponyo, Hayao Miyazaki and children illustration book: The Day I swapped my dad for two goldfish, Neil Gaiman, illustrated by Dave Mckean. I'll paste a screenshot that I took for reference, I do not own any copyright:
